Look at the LOCATION field in CBBCat. Item records include LOCATION, CALL NUMBER and STATUS (availability). Note the branch (e.g. Colby Olin) and any other area designation (e.g. Stacks). Books are shelved by Call Numbers within these designated areas.

Examples:

Colby Miller Stacks - The 5 floors of the Miller stacks are located next to the central library staircase. Charts listing Call Number locations are posted by the stairway and next to the elevator within the stacks. Call Numbers beginning with A are on the top floor and Z on the bottom.

Colby Miller New Books, Colby Miller Popular Books, Colby Miller Authors - These are on shelves in the large central commons area on the main floor of Miller Library.

Colby Miller Reference - Most Miller reference items are in the historic, recently-restored reading room on the main floor of the library at the front of the building. However, books with REF A and REF Z Call Numbers (along with a few writing and citation handbooks) are located in the nook next to the librarians' offices in the central commons area.

Colby Storage Facility or Bates or Bowdoin -  Request within CBBCat by clicking on the CBB Request link at the top of the item's CBBCat record.

Special Collections -  Special Collections stacks are closed and books must be retrieved by the library staff.

Please don't hesitate to ask librarians or staff for assistance in locating any item.
